General tree description
Malus x robusta is a hybrid of Malus baccata (Siberian crab) and Malus prunifolia (Plum-leaved crab). It is a small tree with a bushy, irregular shape and drooping branch tips. It has large (8 to 11cm long), oblong, coarse, bright green leaves, and clusters of 3 to 4cm flowers in May and June. The flowers are pink in bud, opening white or pink-white. The fruits are globular or ellipsoid, 1 to 3cm long, yellow or red, and they remain on the tree until the following spring.
